It Will All Depend On Our Focus

Another finished piece of summer work.  Original sketches inked with a quill pen on tracing paper so that the images are semi transparent.  The back ground is paper alternated with the sports stats page.
Fluid Acrylic washes over the background.

My work is always about nature, plants, toxins, GMOs, and the future of our world.  I was re reading one of my most favorite books,  Mutant Message From Down Under by Marlo Morgan.  Wonderful book, challenging observations.  I have written and rewritten artists statements that try to sum up my feeling and intent, but she wrote it crystal clear.

"We are destroying the soul of the earth  Our technical greed has uncovered a deep ignorance that is a serious threat to all life,  an ignorance that only reverence for nature can reverse. "

Time, A Changing Mirage

Clocks and Maps,  The world is set and recorded, but it is only a mirage, that chances with time.  It must be drawn again, named again. Borders and alliances growing together, then come apart, again.  We move on, every changing.

A Few Spots Left/ is now Not Many Left

Well, you know how it is.  You look back at some of your work and you realize that it is all wrong.  The background doesn't work, the foreground doesn't work, or the whole thing just doesn't work.  But, part of it you really still feel is strong.  A few pages down you will find the original posts about these nine small landscapes.  Really like the small landscapes, but the setting was wrong.  So here is the redo.  I feel it is much stronger now.   see what you think.

Don't Listen to the Words, If you aren't looking at the Actions

New Piece, once again, Alcohol ink, quill pen and colored ink, on YUPO.
Why try to reach other worlds, if we can't not destroy this one, destruction will only spread.
As my Mom always said, actions speak louder than words.  Thanks for the view.

New news

I am very happy and humbled that the Alcohol ink piece shown in my last post, that is now renamed As They Float Away, has been accepted for publication by North Light Books for their Incite 4.  It should be out in September.

Hunter, Gatherer, Industrial, Digital, Hunter....  has also been accepted for publication in a book of work by members of the Society of Layerist in Multi Mediums.  It is also a few posts down.  thanks for the view.

The first half of the school year has flown by and we are now in the Spring semester, so my time in the studio is limited.  Hope to have more new work soon.   thanks for the view!
