My work has changed and evolved as I have grown as an artist. This is a close up of one of my older pieces but new to the blog. As I post I will be able to visually take you through my progresss as an artist, if you do not follow me on Facebook or Instagram. Hope you enjoy. All work is for sale of course, contact me if interested.

Jean Beauduy Griffinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16520868077267865126noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4138814783771692193.post-53239243798186611722016-08-01T16:55:00.000-07:002016-08-01T16:55:34.129-07:00It Will All Depend On Our Focus

Another finished piece of summer work. Original sketches inked with a quill pen on tracing paper so that the images are semi transparent. The back ground is paper alternated with the sports stats page.
Fluid Acrylic washes over the background.
My work is always about nature, plants, toxins, GMOs, and the future of our world. I was re reading one of my most favorite books, Mutant Message From Down Under by Marlo Morgan. Wonderful book, challenging observations. I have written and rewritten artists statements that try to sum up my feeling and intent, but she wrote it crystal clear.
You look back at some of your work and you realize that it is all wrong. The background doesn't work, the foreground doesn't work, or the whole thing just doesn't work. But, part of it you really still feel is strong. A few pages down you will find the original posts about these nine small landscapes. Really like the small landscapes, but the setting was wrong. So here is the redo. I feel it is much stronger now. see what you think.
Walnut ink spray, round plastic needle point canvas, cut into part circles. I laid the cut plastic circles on pieces of torn artist's proofs of intaglio prints I made in college, and spayed. The circles, part circles, reminded me of cave drawing symbols. The color scheme of the eucalyptus, sienna, java, and walnut, seemed to add to that feeling.
In keeping with the always theme in my work of our stewardship, or lack, of the earth we live on, this is a statement of the horrible slow death we are causing the plants around us, due to chemical profits.
The very soil we depend on is dying, and the beauty of rare and common plants is floating out of our grasp. In this specific piece, an exotic plant is broken up into circles, and floating away from us, as the soil is dying, and the sky darkens with foreboding.

I have two pieces that have been juried into the SLMM online National Show. The show is up for view, at slmm.org The title of the exhibit is "Ebb and Flow"
They will each be placed on a crumpled piece of paper that looks like a cross between seal gut and parchment with string reinforcement running through it at 1 inch intervals. Then all 9 will be mounted again on a single background. As the finished piece will be to large to scan here at my studio, I am showing only the bits and pieces now, after the piece is finished and camera shot, I will show you the finished piece.
Thanks for the view.
My scanner is finally working again! New, as in recently finished, but all so new, as in my work is changing, evolving, which is how it should happen.

I am working on a smaller scale, still collage, but drawing on the collage itself, or using odd bits of drawings. The work is more spontaneous. It begins with a ground of Molding Paste to create a Multi textured layer to build upon.

More news, Falling Together, which was in the Arizona show sold. Very happy about that.
This is the finished collage. The original red and white area, was a challenge. It was repainted many times. But that is the beauty of acrylic paints. Don't like an area, paint over it.
