To Jettison Without Solutions, Not To Wise

Another alcohol Ink on Yupo with intense drawing with quill pen and Colored Inks.
If we don't solve our problems here on earth, jettisoning them into space will only multiply our problems.  Thanks for the view.

Connections

This piece is a little bit different,  it is not a Collage.  Using contact paper and Alcohol Inks in several different layers of application, I built up the composition.  Then with my favorite Quill pen and colored inks I began to draw on the multi surface.

hunter/gatherer/industrial/digital/hunter/gatherer...

This piece began from an experiment.  Walnut ink spray, round plastic needle point canvas, cut into part circles.  I laid the cut plastic circles on pieces of torn artist's proofs of intaglio prints I made in college, and spayed.  The circles, part circles, reminded me of cave drawing symbols.  The color scheme of the eucalyptus, sienna, java, and walnut, seemed to add to that feeling.

Size  H 12" x W 9"    Medium  Collage, quill and Ink, walnut inks, intaglio proofs, various papers

False words, While the beauty slips away

Size  H 8" x 6"
Medium   Quill pen and ink, inktense, book pages, various papers.

In keeping with the always theme in my work of our stewardship, or lack, of the earth we live on, this is a statement of the horrible slow death we are causing the plants around us, due to chemical profits.
The very soil we depend on is dying, and the beauty of rare and common plants is floating out of our grasp.  In this specific piece, an exotic plant is broken up into circles, and floating away from us, as the soil is dying, and the sky darkens with foreboding.

I have two pieces that have been juried into the SLMM online National Show.  The show is up for view, at slmm.org   The title of the exhibit is "Ebb and Flow"

Thanks for the view.

All That Remains (In Progress)

Continuing with small work, I created 9 small landscapes, each 3" x 3".  They will each be placed on a crumpled piece of paper that looks like a cross between seal gut and parchment with string reinforcement running through it at 1 inch intervals.  Then all 9 will be mounted again on a single background.  As the finished piece will be to large to scan here at my studio, I am showing only the bits and pieces now,  after the piece is finished and camera shot, I will show you the finished piece.
Thanks for the view.

Haunted by the Past

Wanted to post some of my new pieces, There are 4 new pieces added. My scanner is finally working again!  New, as in recently finished, but all so new, as in my work is changing, evolving, which is how it should happen.

I am working on a smaller scale, still collage, but drawing on the collage itself, or using odd bits of drawings. The work is more spontaneous.  It begins with a ground of Molding Paste to create a Multi textured layer to build upon.

More news, Falling Together, which was in the Arizona show sold.  Very happy about that.
  Thanks for viewing.
